can take into account the exclusions or omissions in this introductory manual to France, but we must not forget the time and purpose of the author hopes to grow by not dealing with disputes amongst adults.
In the 1906 edition, all references to God, religion is suppressed, even in the most common expressions. Children are no longer attending Notre Dame de la Garde in Marseille, Fenelon, Bossuet, Vincent de Paul disappear. Jean Jaures surprisingly, in 1910, this self-censorship. The author had in fact tried to replace religious morality an ideology of brotherhood and solidarity. This emphasizes the secular tone of the book, and highlights optimism in respect of a company without reference to the supernatural, human and working strictly to the rule of reason and harmony. (the young Julian after the school regularly and well outside her school hours rather than go wandering, he renders services to a former teacher and retired him reading ).
- Oh! said Julian Day, when the time came to lie, it's a beautiful thing to have a library where can borrow books! Mrs. Gertrude, we will read all, is not it?
- I ask nothing better, "replied the smiling mother Gertrude. But tell me, Julian, who has borne the brunt of all these books which the library of the school is filled, and who do you, ultimately, the pleasure of reading? Have you thought about?
- No, said the child, I did not think.
- Julien, schools, adult classes, school libraries are the benefits of your home. France wants all her children are worthy of her, and she increases each the number of its schools and its courses, she founded the new libraries, and prepares teachers to lead the young scholars. (*)
- Oh! Julien said, I love France with all my heart! I wish she was the first nation in the world.
- So, Julian, consider one thing: the honor of our country depends on the worth of his children. Apply to work, learn, be kind and generous as all children of France do the same, and our homeland will be the first of all nations.
(*) Note: Given the massive loss of classes, teaching positions (actual and announced in the coming year) and the elimination of the IUFM (Institute of Teacher Training) we can assume that "France" has revised its goals differently.
That said, I think we won openness to changing reader ... I shall say no more.
